The game takes place in the year 2277, 200 years after the Great War, on the East Coast of what used to be the United States of America, mostly in Washington, D.C., southwest Maryland, western Pennsylvania and northeast Virginia. On November 11, 2015, Fallout 3 became backwards compatible exclusively for Xbox One and later Xbox Series X/S.
It is available on the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. It was released on Octoin North America, on Octoin Europe and Australia and on Decemin Japan. It is the third major installment in the Fallout series (fifth overall) and a sequel to Interplay Entertainment's Fallout and Fallout 2. Fallout 3 is a post-apocalyptic computer and console open-ended, action role-playing game developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks.
